The role of the Office is the registration and the legal protection of the new scientific research re-sults and knowledge resulting from the University’s activities and of any University’s intellectual property through patents, modification of patents and certificates of utility models of know-how, the licensing of the use of rights to the private and public sector for their commercial exploitation, the finding of funding for the University’s research activity from domestic and European institu-tions, as well as the creation of University spin-off companies.
The long-term objective of the Office is to develop partnerships between the University and insti-tutions or businesses that will contribute to technology at local and national level, strengthen the economy and to be able to raise the living standards of the wider community. At regional level, the Technology Transfer Office of the University of Western Macedonia wishes to contribute to the design and development of a wider innovation and technology ecosystem in the Region of Western Macedonia and to contribute with local stakeholders to the economic development of the region.
