The University of Western Macedonia once again pioneers and becomes the first Academic Institution in Greece, which introduces state-of-the-art Blockchain technology in its operation for the certification of digital documents of the Special Account for Research Funds (ELKE).

Through the Blockchain platform, the secure issuance and verification of the validity of the digital documents and certificates issued with the internal procedure according to ISO 9001: 2015 that is applied in the ELKE of the University is ensured. At the same time, the security of electronic services is shielded and both the cost of management systems and procedures and the time required for authentication are reduced.

“It is a strategic choice of the University of Western Macedonia to integrate in its daily operation the new technological trends and to keep pace with everything related to the best practices in digital services”, said the Vice Rector for Research and Lifelong Learning, Professor Stergios Maropoulos. of the pioneer of this project.

The implementation of the service “Blockchain certification of ISO docs” in the operation of ELKE has been undertaken by the company NewCo SA. with significant experience and specialization in similar projects.

Through the technological revolution of blockchain, the University of Western Macedonia innovates and evolves into a fully digitized University in the direction of the national goal of the digital transition.
